A few decades in the fashion world is tantamount to having your own crystal ball: When it comes to predicting trends, it-items, and pieces that are about to be seen on street-style stars around the globe, there's a group of people who just know. Roopal Patel, fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue, is one of those blessed with an uncanny knack for predicting what's about to hit. We asked her which items she's most excited about for Fall 2018 and how she plans on wearing them.

"The plaid puffer capelet from Fendi is a novel way to [mix] the outerwear, plaid, and high-shine trends into one! Layer it over a thin knit or one of this season's turtlenecks. It really keeps you warm and cozy."

"Sacai's two-tone blazer is the new update on a classic denim jacket. Mixed with a traditional menswear blazer, it's a great item to layer over a skinny trouser or jean."

"Western influences were everywhere for fall. From long prairie skirts to cowboy boots, it's all about the wild, wild west. Loewe's saddle bag is a luxe update and comes in a great variety of colors. "This monochromatic suit from The Row definitely makes a statement in creamy red. I like the bold color update on this classic silhouette. It's expected to wear a suit to work, but I like the idea of wearing this [jacket] to a cocktail or more formal event at night."
