There was much speculation over which designer Pippa would choose for the big day. Would it be Sarah Burton who designed her sister, The Duchess of Cambridge's Alexander McQueen gown for the Royal Wedding? Or British designer Giles Deacon, who was spotted leaving a meeting with Pippa holding a garment bag?
Giles Deacon has indeed been confirmed as the designer. He tells Business of Fashion that the dress was made entirely of bespoke, hand-pieced lace. "I wanted that 'how-was-that-done?' factor," he said.
Deacon didn't say much about his dealings with the bride, but did concede, "She has a great eye, she knew what she wanted."
The veil is by famed British milliner Stephen Jones, and is hand embroidered with pearls.
While the gown is classic—white lace, full skirt—there are some key differences from the trend-setting gown her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge wore to her wedding.
Most notably, Pippa has chosen a dress with small cap sleeves, perhaps signaling the end of the long-sleeve wedding dress trend that Kate Middleton ushered in.
Of course, Pippa's Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress famously had cap sleeves as well.
Sky News is reporting that the Giles Deacon wedding dress could have cost up to 40,000 pounds.
