After releasing songs with Doechii and Dominic Fike (and a music video with Charles Melton), Jennie has another big collab up her sleeve—with Dua Lipa. The British pop star appears on “Handlebars,” a track on Jennie’s new album, Ruby, and it’s clearly for the romantics.
The duo sings in the chorus, “I trip and fall in love / Just like a Tuesday drunk / I always go all in, all in, all in.” The song was written by Lipa, Delacey, Amy Allen (who just won the Grammy for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical), James Alan Ghaleb, and Rob Bisel.
This isn’t the pair’s first time working together, as Blackpink was previously featured on Lipa’s song “Kiss and Make Up” in 2017.
“Working with Dua is always a pleasure,” Jennie told Capital FM this week. “I’ve known her for the longest time, and this time we actually got to…okay I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say, but working with her is like, it doesn’t even feel like work, it’s more like hanging out with a friend.”
Jennie also features Childish Gambino, Kali Uchis, and FKJ on Ruby. She previously told Hits Radio about collaborating with other artists, “I really just had to break through that wall and find myself before I got into the studio with any other artist. So, once I got through that wall within myself, everything else just fell really naturally and easy.”
Days after the song debuted with the album on March 7, Jennie and Lipa unveiled a psychedelic music video directed by BRTH to go along with the track.
