Billie Eilish knows how to bring good vibes to the Grammys. While performing “Birds of a Feather” at tonight’s ceremony in Los Angeles, Eilish donned a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap and saluted the town—recently devastated by wildfires—at the end of the song, calling out, “I love you, L.A.”
She finished off her look with a MIKIMOTO x Chrome Hearts pearl necklace, orange top, and oversized jeans.
According to a statement from Eilish’s publicist, the performance was meant as “a heartfelt tribute to the Altadena community,” depicting “the breathtaking San Gabriel Mountains and Eaton Canyon in Altadena, a dearly cherished part of the world to both [Eilish and her brother, Finneas], and just a stone’s throw away from where they grew up in Los Angeles. Images from their childhood days spent wandering and playing in the foothills and trails of the canyon with the family dogs (also seen in the performance) were interspersed throughout.”
Videos of the performance surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, promptly after Eilish started singing:
Eilish has seven nominations this evening, including in the show’s three biggest categories: Record of the Year (“Birds of a Feather”), Album of the Year (Hit Me Hard and Soft), and Song of the Year (“Birds of a Feather”). She is also up for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Birds of a Feather”), Best Pop Vocal Album (Hit Me Hard and Soft), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Guess” with Charli XCX), and Best Dance Pop Recording (“L’Amour de Ma Vie [Over Now Extended Edit]”).
The star has been on her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour, which is running through July 2025. She and her brother, Finneas, spoke to Vogue for its November issue about how she has made the experience so much better than her previous tours.
Finneas touched on her routine, saying, “There were many years where I sort of felt like I would never miss a show because, you know, Billie was 16 or 17 and I really had this feeling of needing to be there for every minute, and the truth is, over the last few years of touring she’s really become an adult.”
He added, “She has a really disciplined way of existing on tour. She sleeps through the day to make sure that she’s rested for the show. She does hours of physical therapy. She does hours of vocal warm-ups.”
Eilish shared this time really is different: “I didn’t realize that I could make touring enjoyable,” she said. “I just was very lonely for many years, and I’m not interested in that anymore. I want to enjoy the show as well as my days.”
