It’s easy to see why My Life With the Walter Boys quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest hits. (Soon after season 1 was released in December 2023, the series became a member of Netflix’s billion-minute club, after drawing in millions of viewers, Deadline reported.) The teen romance tells the story of Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), a high school student forced to move from New York to Silver Falls, Colorado, following the deaths of her parents and sister. Entrusted to the care of her godmother and her mom’s closest friend, Katherine Walter (Suits icon Sarah Rafferty), Jackie finds herself living on a farm with nine other children and Katherine’s husband, George (Marc Blucas).
Based on the book of the same name by Ali Novak, My Life With the Walter Boys is both a family drama and a romantic one, with Jackie getting caught in a love triangle between brothers Cole (Noah LaLonde) and Alex (Ashby Gentry). Following the season 2 finale’s many cliffhangers, fans are desperate to find out whether the series will be back for a third season. Here’s what we know about My Life With the Walter Boys season 3.
Will My Life With the Walter Boys return for season 3?
Fans of Jackie’s adventures with the Walter boys will be relieved to learn Netflix has already ordered a third season of the series. On August 6, 2025, more than three weeks ahead of season 2’s release, the streaming service shared the good news: In an Instagram post featuring Rodriguez, LaLonde, and Gentry, Netflix’s official account explained, “as if waiting for season 2 didn’t test my patience enough.... MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS: SEASON 3 is now in production!!”
“Production is now underway—before season 2 has even premiered!” Netflix’s Tudum confirmed, revealing that the series is set to return (again) in 2026. What’s on Netflix also revealed, via the Directors Guild of Canada, that “pre-production for season 3 of the show is already underway and began on June 6, 2025.” The outlet also noted that an almost “four-month shoot is planned, with a tentative wrap date set for December 1, 2025,” with the streaming service allegedly preparing for “a mid-to-late August 2026 release...though given how far out we are, that’s highly subject to change.”
What will season 3 be about?
While plot details regarding season 3 of My Life With the Walter Boys are yet to be revealed, it seems likely that the love triangle between Jackie and brothers Alex and Cole will remain a key fixture. In the season 2 finale, Jackie finally confesses her love for Cole, which Alex—Jackie’s current boyfriend—overhears. Before the trio can attempt to resolve their romantic mess, it’s discovered that Cole and Alex’s father, George, has experienced an undisclosed medical emergency while out on their farm. Viewers will be eager to find out whether George recovers from this mystery emergency in season 3,
As for who Jackie will eventually pick as her endgame, actress Rodriguez realizes what a tricky decision her character has ahead. “I understand why Jackie is conflicted because it's tough, right?” she told Teen Vogue in January 2024. “Like team Cole and team Alex. They’re both so great in different ways. I understand why people are split.” After suggesting that both brothers have positive attributes, Rodriguez shared her ultimate choice, which is hard to disagree with. “I always say team Jackie because she needs to follow her heart and her dreams and she deserves to be happy,” the actress told the outlet.
Discussing his own future hopes for Cole, LaLonde told Who What Wear in August 2025, “It’s just continuously trying to grow and take those hits but get a little stronger from them. I hope he can keep that perspective in mind, and of course, I hope a little bit he gets the girl.”
Beyond the love triangle, “we’ve got a lot of things to do,” said Melanie Halsall, My Life With the Walter Boys’ showrunner, in an August 2025 interview with Tudum. She continued, “I think we have a lot of potential to tell stories that are inter-generational. I’d love to be able to do more of that in season 3.”
Halsall previously spoke about her hopes for the future of the series, telling Variety, “The love triangle is fantastic, of course, and I could see how audiences would be really drawn to that. But what I also loved about it was the ensemble around that—this big world that [author] Ali [Novak] created with all these characters.” She continued, “You have all these characters you can create stories for, focusing on the love triangle in the middle.”
Who’s new to the cast in season 3?
Deadline has reported that Chad Rook will join the cast of My Life With the Walter Boys for season 3, though it’s currently unclear who the actor will play. According to the outlet, “The actor will appear in at least four episodes of the third season.” However, no further details about Rook’s character were revealed at the time of the announcement, and “Netflix declined to comment,” Deadline noted.
Rook recently appeared in the TV shows Joe Pickett and Billy the Kid, and he’s set to star in the forthcoming It spin-off Welcome to Derry. Adding My Life With the Walter Boys to his résumé is sure to raise Rook’s profile considerably.
