After nearly a decade together, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially engaged. Rodríguez confirmed the news on Instagram in August 2025, posting a photo of her huge oval diamond ring with the caption: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
The couple’s love story started in Madrid in 2017, when Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant, and Ronaldo was already one of the most famous athletes in the world. Since then, they’ve navigated major career transitions, parenthood, life in multiple countries, and personal loss, building a family together along the way.

Rodríguez and Ronaldo first crossed paths in Madrid at a Gucci store where she worked. “When I saw him, he was so handsome, I felt embarrassed to look at him,” Rodríguez said in a March 2023 interview on Spanish talk show El Hormiguero. “Let’s just say it was butterflies in my stomach.”
In Rodríguez’s Netflix reality series I Am Georgina, Ronaldo also recalled that he found her to be “a very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age.”
January 2017
The pair made their first public appearance as a couple at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich, attending with Ronaldo’s oldest son, Cristiano Jr.

Ronaldo shared their first Instagram together in spring 2017, posting a photo of them on a couch, captioned simply, “❤️.”
June 2017
Ronaldo confirmed the birth of their twins Eva and Mateo, delivered via surrogate. “So happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life 🙏🏻❤️,” he captioned a Facebook photo of him holding the baby boy and girl on June 29.
July 2017
Weeks later, Ronaldo confirmed Rodríguez was pregnant again. He told Spanish outlet El Mundo that he was “very excited” to become a father again.
November 2017
On November 12, the couple welcomed daughter Alana Martina, their first child together. “Alana Martina has just been born! Geo and Alana are both doing great!,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram. “We are all very happy! ❤️”
Rodríguez later explained that she and Ronaldo each chose part of their daughter’s name: “Cristiano chose Alana, and I chose Martina,” she told ¡HOLA!, per People. “We decided to give her both names that each of us chose. We thought it was even more special.”

Engagement rumors first surfaced when Rodríguez was photographed wearing a large ring. At the time, neither addressed the speculation.
2019
Ronaldo and Rodríguez continued to share milestones as a blended family. That June, they shared a family photo from a private plane. Rodríguez captioned it in Spanish: “Buen día con amor,” which translates to “Good day with love.”
2020
Throughout the pandemic, the couple regularly posted updates from home. On New Year’s Eve, Ronaldo reflected on the challenges of the year in a family Instagram.

In October, Ronaldo and Rodríguez announced they were expecting twins again. “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram with Rodríguez alongside a sonogram photo. “Our hearts are full of love—we can’t wait to meet you.”
In December, they revealed the sexes of their babies in a family balloon-popping video that showed pink and blue confetti. “Where life begins, and love never ends,” they captioned the post.
April 2022
Ronaldo and Rodríguez shared that their newborn son had passed away during childbirth. Their daughter Bella survived. “It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of our baby. It is the greatest pain any parent can feel,” the couple wrote in a joint statement. “Only the birth of our baby gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their care and support. We are devastated and ask for privacy at this difficult time. Our boy, you are our angel. We will love you forever.”

Rodríguez reflected on the loss in I Am Georgina season 2. “Over 40 million people follow me, but no one knows how I really feel,” she said in a trailer released on March 15. “This year, I had the best and the worst moment of my life in an instant.”
That same year, the family relocated to Saudi Arabia after Ronaldo signed with Al Nassr FC.
“Saudi Arabia is a country that has welcomed us with much love and open arms,” Rodríguez later shared in her June 2025 Vogue Arabia cover story. “It’s also a very family-oriented country, and I only have good words and gratitude.”
