Ahead of tonight’s SAG Awards, host Kristen Bell shared that her husband, Dax Shepard, might not be able to make it. “He’s his own man and I support him,” she told People. “I don’t know if he’ll even come because to be honest, we don’t have very many babysitters who are ever available, and he has to watch the children [11-year-old Lincoln and 9-year-old Delta]. Sometimes he’s just like, ‘We have no babysitter, God bless, I hope you do great and have a fun night.’”

It turns out, as she warned, he really wasn’t able to make it. Bell posed by herself on the red carpet.

Bell is also a nominee, with a Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series nod for the Netflix sleeper hit Nobody Wants This.

On February 20, the actress spoke to Vanity Fair about how much she is looking forward to hosting the SAG Awards. “I don’t look at it as thankless,” she said. “I like hosting. I like bringing people together. I like making goofy jokes and making people laugh....Being in a room full of my peers—there’s something very exciting about it. Plus, there’s a safety net because, as cutthroat as Hollywood can be, the SAG Awards have the best vibe because everyone’s excited to see each other, and they’re rooting for each other no matter who wins. So it was an easy yes.”

Bell also addressed her feelings about being nominated and hosting simultaneously. Apparently, she doesn’t plan on taking home a trophy: “Well, my game plan is to take a beta-blocker for the whole night, and that’s going to help a lot. I haven’t really thought about the fact that I’m nominated, because I’m focused on the fact that I’m hosting. I also don’t think I’ll win, which is also fine, because it’s kind of my biggest fear to have to make an off-the-cuff, really charming, poignant speech in front of all of my peers and nail it. It’s like asking an actor to do it in one take and make it up on the spot. So I haven’t really thought much about that. I’m just going to focus on the hosting and maybe hope I don’t win.”
