Dua Lipa has been out in Paris this past week, attending Chanel’s spring/summer 2025 haute couture show, and then Tiffany & Co.’s Tiffany Titans showcase. One place the singer chose not to be? Tonight’s Grammys in Los Angeles, a nearly 12-hour flight away. The red carpet came and went without any sight of Lipa.
Lipa’s decision to skip the ceremony makes sense, however. While the singer released her 2024 album Radical Optimism within the eligibility period for tonight’s ceremony, it did not receive any nominations. In December, Lipa spoke about the snub in an interview with Billboard UK.
She said, “I’m so proud of Radical Optimism and where it’s brought me. I love that album, and I’m having the time of my life performing it live, and I’ve been able to do things that I thought I could only dream of this year, so I’m really grateful. Although it would have been nice to be recognized by your industry, especially as a woman, I’m so proud seeing so many incredible female artists nominated at the Grammys this year.”
She singled out Charli XCX in particular, with whom she collaborated on the remix of Brat’s “Talk Talk.” (Lipa spoke French and Spanish on the track.) Charli is nominated for Record of the Year (“360”), Album of the Year (Brat), Best Pop Solo Performance (“Apple”), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Guess” with Billie Eilish), Best Remixed Recording (“Von Dutch” with A.G. Cook, featuring Addison Rae), Best Music Video (“360”), and Best Recording Package (Brat). She already took home awards for Best Dance Pop Recording (“Von Dutch”) and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album (Brat) ahead of the ceremony.
“I love her so much and she’s always been a really good friend of mine and been so supportive from day one. She deserves all the flowers,” Lipa said. “She’s worked her arse off, and it’s so beautiful to see her get the recognition she deserves. She’s really stuck to her guns and allowed herself to be creative in her own way, and it’s paid off. That’s the best thing that can ever happen to an artist. She’s so deserving of every moment.”
