Actor Jeff Goldblum has been with his wife, Emilie Livingston, for over a decade, and they share two children. The 72-year-old Jurassic Park actor had been married twice before to actresses Patricia Gaul and Geena Davis. It had been a while since he’d considered another union. But he told Conan O’Brien in 2017 that when he laid eyes on Livingston, he “moved like a mongoose” to meet her.
Here’s what we know about Livingston and her relationship with Goldblum so far.
Who is Emilie Livingston?
Emilie Livingston was born in Toronto, Ontario, but her early interest in rhythmic gymnastics has taken her all over the world. When the now 40-year-old was only 11, she moved to Russia to train in Moscow at the Novogorsk camp.
“My first coach, I saw her perform in Toronto… This is where I first saw a high level representation of rhythmic gymnastics,” Livingston told Vol Up 2 in 2016. “What I was exposed to in Canada wasn’t near that level. Canada doesn’t have the same resources ... for the sport to really be taken to its highest potential.”
Livingston had started as a dancer, emulating her older sister.
“I would be at the dance studio with my mom. While she was dressing my sister, I would use that opportunity to bolt, and sneak into a class,” Livingston told Vol Up 2. “Eventually, it continued from there, and I was placed in a dance class without having to sneak into it. Here, my love of being on the stage, for creativity and movement began to take off.”
During an interview with Neon Tommy in 2022, she talked about the challenges of living in and studying in the professional camp in Russia.
“I don’t know how I survived it, but I am really glad I did. I think it made me a really strong and courageous person,” she explained. “One thing about the Russians, they have no mercy. I wasn’t around my family, there was no one there to coddle me, but it helped bring my skill level up tremendously.”
Livingston eventually competed in the 2000 Sydney Olympics, placing 17th with Team Canada. From there, she began a career in Hollywood, working as an aerialist, contortionist, and dancer. Livingston was even a body double for Rihanna in the 2017 film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and for Emma Stone in an aerial scene in La La Land. She also showed off her skills as an aerialist at the 88th Annual Academy Awards while The Weeknd performed his song “Earned It.”
In a 2013 interview with Broadway, Goldblum revealed that Livingston had shared some of her favorite arts with him.
“She loves to act, and we sing together,” he said. “She was the Pan American champion for rhythmic gymnastics and then was on the Canadian Olympic team for rhythmic gymnastics in Sydney in 2000. Now she does Cirque du Soleil-type aerial things. She took me to a flying trapeze class here in New York. I like to be athletic, but it was difficult.”
How did Goldblum and Livingston meet?
In 2011, the pair crossed paths at a gym, Goldblum told Wired in 2018.
“We were at Equinox on Sunset Blvd., the gym,” he shared. “I saw her from across a crowded room, and I marched up to her, entranced, and began some kind of conversation.”
He shared more details on The Hoda Show in 2019.
“We were at the gym. You can imagine, she wasn’t showing off… but she was doing some kind of fantastical [workout]. I was compelled to go over and ask what was happening,” he said. “She hasn’t seen many of my movies still; she didn’t know who I was when we met.”
Goldblum got her number that day and went to see her aerial show that night. She went to see him play jazz a few days later, and they were an official item shortly after.
How long have Goldblum and Livingston been together?
After beginning to date in 2011, they got engaged in July 2014. She shared a photo of the big moment on Twitter, saying she was crying tears of “ecstasy.”
They went on to celebrate their engagement in Maui.
They then got married in November of that same year at the Chateau Marmont hotel.
Do they have any kids?
The couple share two children, welcoming their son Charlie in 2015 and then their second son, River, in 2017. Goldblum told Us Weekly of becoming a dad at 63 years old, “I feel right on schedule, and I love our two boys...Everything seemed to happen perfectly. I appreciate it wildly.”
Livingston opened up about parenthood to Vol Up 2 after being asked what her favorite part of being a mother had become.
“I think it’s the love you feel, the selflessness,” she said. “It’s nice to care for someone else, for his happiness, for his well-being, for his everyday routine. His needs are more important than my own. Feeling that profound sense of selflessness is quite spectacular. Watching him look at nature for the first time, his infinite sense of wonderment, how everything is new for the first time. I can see through his eyes, allowing me to see the world with a renewed sense of wonderment. I get a big kick out of that.”
Of being a wife, she said, “Every day, my whole day with Jeff is beautiful, silly, enchanting, inspiring, and he challenges me to be a better person. Overall being his wife gives me purpose to my life, to take care of him, to take care of each other.”
They partied together after the BAFTAs in London in February 2025.
The pair enjoyed posing on the red carpet for the BAFTA Film Awards in early 2025, laughing and being playful with one another. Goldblum appeared enamored with his wife in her glamorous dress.
They were later seen sharing some sweet PDA at the Universal Focus BAFTAs after-party. Livingston changed her dress for the second event.
They attended the 2025 Oscars together.
Goldblum and Livingston were among the early arrivals at the 2025 Oscars. Goldblum stood out in a white suit with a large flower brooch, while Livingston complemented him in a gold, floral embellished gown.
