The Met Gala is known for its over-the-top red carpet, and Doja Cat is one celebrity who is not afraid to show up in an unconventional look that is sure to turn heads. Tonight, for “The Garden of Time” dress code, the singer wore a cotton look that was made to look soaking wet with hair gel.
“I don’t really like to blend in,” Doja Cat told reporters ahead of the entering the gala. “I’m performing—it’s a show tonight.” She then clarified that she will not, in fact, be taking the stage, but rather sitting in her wet dress.
Earlier tonight, Doja Cat was photographed outside of The Mark Hotel wrapped in a towel, with another towel wrapped around her head. She wore a pair of clear platform stilettos, and had her makeup done to make it look like mascara was streaming down her face.
She also also attended the Monse Maison pre-Met cocktail party hosted by Pamela Anderson. For the festivities, she wore a long black sleeveless leather jacket. She left the jacket partially unzipped to reveal a black G-string thong that she wore underneath a pair of sheer stockings. Her makeup was kept simple, with sharp black eyeliner and glossy lined lips.
Doja certainly made waves at last year’s Met Gala, when she paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld by dressing up like his cat, Choupette, complete with a feline-nose prosthetic. Her shimmering silver gown featured an attached hood with cat ears and a long white feather train. She added even more sparkle with a crystal headpiece, a silver arm cuff, bracelets on each wrist, and a white feather handbag to mark her debut at the big event.
