Anya Taylor-Joy Wore a Black Grommet Minidress for CinemaCon 2024

On Tuesday, April 9, actress Anya Taylor-Joy appeared at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, alongside her co-star Chris Hemsworth, to promote their upcoming prequel film, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The movie dives into Furiosa’s intense, action-packed backstory, so it only made sense for Taylor-Joy to slip on an edgy little black dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin to pay homage to the character.

The minidress looked like it was constructed of a single black and silver grommet belt wrapped tightly around her body. It crisscrossed at her chest to create a halter top. She added simple black stilettos and tied her hair up into a loose top-knot to complete the look.

She brought out her big brown eyes with dark smokey eyeshadow. She let them take the spotlight, keeping her lip more muted.

While backstage at CinemaCon, Taylor-Joy spoke with Entertainment Tonight about working with Charlize Theron for the film and playing the young version of her character.

“She is as wonderful and cool and supportive as you can possibly imagine. I feel very, very lucky,” Taylor-Joy said.

The outlet’s reporter noted that both she and Theron have backgrounds in ballet. Taylor-Joy agreed, saying, “I know, it weirdly comes in handy for, like, kicking ass.”

“It’s just being able to consistently hit your marks and having the discipline, and it’s all really choreography at the end of the day—just less pointe shoes and more punching.”

Taylor-Joy didn’t only talk movies at CinemaCon. She also spoke more about her secret wedding to Malcolm McRae.

“At the end of the day, it was about the two of us, and so we ran away with our two best friends and had the most magical day possible. But I was also very grateful that a couple of months later, we were able to celebrate with our family,” she shared.

She revealed that they were very strategic in keeping their marriage under wraps. “We did our research, we were like pretty spy-orientated. But honestly, it just—it kind of made it all the more special ’cause it just felt like a secret that we got to keep to ourselves.”
