Taylor Swift attended the Golden Globes on her own this evening in Los Angeles, as the singer is up for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award for her Eras tour concert film.
It didn’t take long for ceremony host, Jo Koy, to make a joke about Swift during the broadcast, referencing her relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL?” Koy said. “At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
The camera then panned to Swift, who did not look too amused by the quip. She bit her lip, took a sip of her drink, and looked away.
Kelce did not attend the Golden Globes with Swift despite being in Los Angeles, because he played against the Los Angeles Chargers this afternoon. The Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce’s team, beat the Chargers by one point.
On January 3, multiple sources explained to Page Six why Kelce was not planning to join Swift at the ceremony. He is busy preparing for the playoffs, they said, and “will fly back to Kansas City with his team right after the game.” Swift did not attend the football game either this afternoon—an understandable absence, given she was preparing for the Golden Globes red carpet.
Swift, by the way, addressed the attention she has gotten at Kelce’s games in her Time interview released in December. “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
She added that she isn’t trying to get attention. “I’m just there to support Travis,” she said. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
