Gisele Bündchen just made her mark on the first Monday in May. The newly single model took to the red carpet dressed in a vintage Chanel haute couture dress with a feathered cape attached for tonight’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” theme. As eagle-eyed users on Twitter noted, Bünchen had posed in the 2007 look before for a Harper’s Bazaar South Korea editorial that same year:
While Bündchen regularly attended the Met Gala with her ex-husband Tom Brady, this marks Bündchen’s highest profile event since their divorce was finalized in October 2022. And, naturally, she went all out. Confirmation of her attendance at this year’s gala broke earlier today, when TMZ reported that she had flown into New York City ahead of the occasion and would be wearing Chanel.
In September 2022, Bündchen opened up to ELLE about coping with change. “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom Brady],” she said before their divorce. “I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams. Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career—it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that.”
Now, it’s her turn to pursue her dreams, she said: “I have a huge list of things that I have to do, that I want to do. At 42, I feel more connected with my purpose.”
