Thousands Gather to Protest Trump Across America

Last night, thousands gathered in cities across America to protest the results of the 2016 presidential election. Men and women in Oakland, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago listened to speakers urging Americans to come together, wipe away the tears, and prepare to fight for our rights, as the crowd held signs that read "Love Trumps Hate," "Pussy Grabs Back," and "Not My President."

In New York, protesters gathered in front of Trump International Hotel and Tower in Columbus Circle to hear CNN political commentator Sally Kohn and members of the #BlackLivesMatter movement speak. "My heart is breaking, and I can't promise it won't get worse," Sally Kohn said to the crowd. The message: Organize. Protect. Fight.

"The people united will never be defeated," chanted the crowd, which included two little girls, about nine years old, with their mothers. One of them stood, looking up at her mother, watching her say the words―first hesitantly, then with growing strength and determination―and mouthed them along with her.
