“A blurred dot is a favorite of mine because it makes maximum impact with minimal effort,” says Hughes.

Eyes

Create definition by tight-lining with M·A·C Studio Chromagraphic Pencil ($17). Then dot the Lancôme Artliner Precision Point EyeLiner in Azur ($30.50) near the outer bottom corner, a millimeter from the base of lower lashes, twisting it to get a larger-sized dot. Make sure you look straight ahead when applying it to get the placement right. Set the liner by blending a matching powder shadow (try Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette ($48)) on top. Give lids a glossy finish with RMS Beauty Luminizer X Quad ($48) to keep the look modern and effortless.

Skin

Use your fingers to blend RMS Beauty Luminizer X Quad ($48) all over the face to give skin a dewy glow that matches lids. Blend The Body Shop All-in-One Blush ($16) onto cheeks for a healthy flush.

Lips

Apply Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sheer Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Deeply Moved ($32), and then tap Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Hi-Lustre Light Sculpting Lipstick in Crystal Baby ($32) onto the center. Lightly press lips together for a soft, diffused effect.

“The unexpectedness of a disconnected line reads as a little rebellious,” says Hughes.

Eyes

Accentuate the inner corners by tracing them with M·A·C Pro Longwear Eye Liner in Mountain Air ($21). Then, starting from the outer corner of the top lash line, use Lancôme Artliner Precision Point EyeLiner in Cuir ($30.50) to draw out a half inch, and then make a sharp corner and continue downward until you reach the crease. Keep a cotton swab soaked in Galenic Cleansing Micellar Water ($32) on hand to clean up any smudges or mistakes.

Lips

Use your fingers to press Lime Crime Velvetines Matte Lipstick in Teddy Bear ($20) onto the lips, and then top with a bit of balm to hydrate.

“A glam smoky metallic wing feels cool. The key is to follow the shape of your eye and choose warm, luxe tones that make it look expensive,” says Hughes.

Eyes

Using a small pointy liner brush and the deep bronze shade from the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette Color-Coded Eyeshadows in The Dolce Vita ($53), form a wing outward and up towards the end of brows, then brush remaining shadow all over the lids. Blend the lower lash lines with the rust-colored shadow. Press the golden shadow on the center of lids to create dimension and inner corners to open up eyes. Blur any edges with a small blending brush.

Lips

Coat lips with NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in Warm Leatherette ($26), then follow with NARS Precision Lip Liner in Cassis ($24) for definition.

“These three little dots are graphic, yet delicate," says Hughes."And it’s that balance that makes it work and wearable."

Eyes

At the outer corner, where a wing would be, use the FLiRT Dot Dot Dot Dual Eyeliner Art ($22) to create three small dots in a triangle shape. (Make sure to re-dip the brush before each dot.) Soften the dots with a sweep of color from the Dolce & Gabbana Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Gold Dust ($38) on the lids and along the lash line.

Face

Use fingers to blend the peachy highlighter in the Lime Crime Hi-Lite Highlighter Palette ($38) onto cheekbones, temples, bridge of nose, and Cupid’s bow to create a warm glow.

Lips

Smooth lips with balm, blot, and then apply Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Hi-Lustre Light Sculpting Lipstick in Drop Dead Red ($32) on lips to contrast with the minimal eye.

“Banana line goals! This look is retro, but made modern by pairing it with super fresh, dewy skin, and a soft lip,” says Hughes.

Eyes

Between the natural crease and brow, draw a half moon-shaped arc with Lancôme Artliner Precision EyeLiner in Noir ($30.50). Look straight ahead as you apply and rest an elbow on the table to ensure the smoothest line. Pair the liner with equally mod, faux lashes using the FLiRT Flashes False Lash Applicator ($28).

Lips

With a look this striking, the rest of the face should be clean. Just a touch of flesh-toned balm is all you need.
